Arrangements and Compositions

Arrangements

I've done some writing for big band, and several of my arrangements have found their way into the book of the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra (I used to play sax with them, too).

  • Mellow Tonin': an original, straight-ahead swing tune, performed by the CJO live at Pearl's
  • Amor Fati: an original, straight-eighth latin tune, played by the College of San Mateo Night Band
  • Sugar: by Stanley Turrentine, arranged as a modal jazz waltz, played by the College of San Mateo Night Band.
  • A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square: my arrangement of this lovely ballad, played by Dave Tidball's clarinet quartet. Originally scored for tuba quartet, though I have yet to hear it played by that configuration. Anyone? Bueller?
  • Bud, Budd and Buddy: my arrangement of Bouncin' with Bud, played in concert by the CSM Night Band.
